Divorce and Child Custody Disputes
A divorce mediator is a neutral third party who helps both spouses negotiate and organize the terms of a divorce without the mediator taking sides or acting as a judge.
Facilitating communication between spouses/parties
Helping identify key issues in the divorce
Guiding negotiation on:
Property and asset division
Debt collection
child custody and parenting plans
Child support
Spousal support/alimony

Mediator generally does not:
* Represent either spouse/parties legally
* Give legal advice to one side
* Make decisions for the couple like a judge would
* Force an agreement
In many cases, parties can opt to hire their own attorney review the final agreement before filing it with the court. However, in many cases, parties opt to hire a mediator and resolve their dispute outside of the court room.
