For more than 20 years, Al Grandoit has worked in mediation, conflict resolution, investigations, and community advocacy throughout Massachusettes, Louisiana, and beyond. His experience includes mediating and assisting in matters involving small claims disputes, housing and eviction conflicts, business disagreements, family disputes, divorce and child custody matters, C.H.I.N.S./FINS and ungovernable youth cases, as well as conflicts involving citizens and the New Orleans Police Department.
His background also includes participation in public policy and community-based mediation initiatives connected to the City of New Orleans, helping facilitate dialogue around complex civic and community concerns.
In addition to mediation work, Al Grandoit has managed negotiations involving high-profile clients in matters related to music and entertainment rights, bringing strategic communication and dispute resolution skills to complex negotiations involving business, creative, and contractual interests.
Al Grandoit previously served as a board member and Interim Executive Director of Community Mediation Services, where he helped support neighborhood conflict resolution initiatives, alternative dispute programs, trainings, and community engagement efforts.
He has also conducted peer mediation trainings, basic mediator trainings, and divorce and child custody mediation instruction designed to help individuals, organizations, and communities navigate difficult conversations with fairness, professionalism, and mutual respect.

Al Grandoit

Al Grandoit is an investigative expert, mediator, negotiator, cross-cultural expert, judicial systems expert, mitigation expert, human rights consultant, and commentator on public policy, history, culture, and current affairs.
Al is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in Political Science and minor in Public Administration, later pursuing his Master of Liberal Arts in Government at Harvard University. During his final undergraduate semester, Al completed an internship at the Legislative Offices of Senator Les Miller. Later working with the committee to Elect Jonathan Alpert in Tampa's State Attorney Race. He worked for Florida's Department of Children and Families Servies and Office of the Attorney General investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect. Al later held supervisory and administer positions for children and family centered organizations and mediated disputes in the courthouses in Massachusetts spanning family disputes to maritime disputes in Hyannis & Cape Cod. In New Orleans, Al continued to mediate disputes and worked as the senior mitigation specialist/investigator for Louisiana Capital Assistance Center. Al served on the New Orleans Independent Police Monitor’s police-citizen community mediation implementation committee and assisted in the training of its mediators and in program development. Al also served as the Interim Executive Director, board member and trainer for Community Mediation Services NOLA. Al also served on Sheriff-Elect Susan Hutson Transition Team, 2022, Civil working group on matters such as service of process (including interactions with impacted people and crime survivors), courthouse deputies, reserve deputies, seizures of property, evictions, auctions, and foreclosures.
He currently serves as the secretary for The Urban Conservancy. He has contributed to StoryCorps, WWOZ, WXPN, NPR, WBOK, 4WWL, WDSU6, NOLA TV, OFFBEAT Magazine, WWNO, NOLA Homes Project 500, L’Union Suite, The Haitian American, and consultations include the Netflix documentary, The Pharmacist.
